Fund Raiser for Family Promise of Acadiana

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, in Lafayette, Louisiana, is doing it's part by holding a raffle to raise funds for Family Promise of Acadiana; mobilizing the community to help homeless families achieve and sustain their independence.
Founded in New Jersey, in 1986, The Family Promise network is an organizaiton providing shelter, meals and comprehensive support to families without homes, and now has programs in most states across the country. The network has more than 115,000 active volunteers from over 5,000 congregations of all denominations nationwide, who work together in providing homeless families with hospitality, support and basic needs. Family Promise volunteers have helped make a difference in over 130,000 lives, nationwide, by helping homeless families get back on their feet in trying times.
The donations collected from this raffle will be used to help the needy in the Acadiana area by aiding them in supplying food, shelter and other basic needs. What a wonderful project– and what great prizes, too!
The prizes are as follows:
Grand Prize, One Year Rent – Free Apartment ($7,800 Value – Friedrichs Properties)
- Twelve months free rent for a 2 bedroom, 1-1/2 bath apartment or townhouse.
- Includes refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, with washer and dryer hook-ups.
- Approximately 1,000 square feet. Valued at $650/month or $7,800/year.
- Unit will be selected from available units at the time the tenant wishes to begin the lease term. All units are located off of Verot School Road on either Fox Run, Country Lane, or Shekel Drive.
- The winner of the raffle will have up to 13 months to begin the lease term and may elect to continue the lease, at market rent, at the end of the 12 month free rent term.
- The winner may assign the winning ticket to another person (such as one of his children) or may donate it back to the shelter for use by one of the shelters clients.
- A parking space located near the UL campus will be provided if a UL student wins!
- A pet may be allowed with a paid pet fee. Pet may disqualify certain units from consideration due to amenities or configuration.
- Tenants must be at least 18 years of age.
The grand prize winner must comply with routine company application processes which include a background check, fee waived. Tenants pay their own utilities. The company is to provide monthly pest control and A/C filter change. The total number of residents in the unit cannot exceed the company-approved limit. The winner is to pay a refundable $500 security/damage deposit by move-in date.
Second Prize - $1000 in Groceries
Third Prize - $500 in Gasoline
The donation for this great raffle is only $20 per ticket or $10 per ticket with a Student I.D. , and the drawing will be held on August 30, 2009.
